Old Greenwich is the historic center of Greenwich, Connecticut, where the first European settlers arrived in the 1650s. The daughter-in-law of John Winthrop, Elizabeth Fones Winthrop, purchased the property that later was to comprise much of Old Greenwich. John Winthrop was the Massachusetts Bay Colony Governor, so he as one of the more influential people of his day. The land that she purchased would become known as "Elizabeth's Neck."

Parks and Recreation

Greenwich Point Park is right in Old Greenwich. The beach certainly keeps swimmers and sunbathers happy, but there are also many other recreational opportunities at Greenwich Point.
