General Information
History The Town of Greenwich was settled in 1640 and was incorporated in 1665. Originally Greenwich Point (known by locals as “Tod’s Point”) was open only to town residents and their guests, but a lawyer eventually sued claiming that is freedom was threatened because he was not allowed entry. The lower courts disagreed, but the decision was overruled by the Supreme Court of Connecticut, and now all four beaches in Greenwich are accessible by the public.
